Instead of focusing on just one thing, I try to develop art units that explore MORE to hit more of the curriculum, take the students on a deep adventure into art so they can see how it all comes together, and also… Take a lot of stress off my back.

When you plan more or units that cover more, you’re actually planning and teaching a lot less art lessons– Which means you can spend more time on that topic with your students and let them have more time to create those artworks instead of Rushing and RUSHING through each one. That is just a recipe for teacher burnout.

More over, I like to increase engagement by adding theme into your unit, making it a unit that teaches the Elements of Art, but also incorporates a theme. This way your students are diving deep into two things to strengthen their learning and understanding.
