This Grade 1 Elements of Art Complete Lesson Unit teaches the Elements of Art through a high-interest farm theme. It is a no-prep, ready-made unit that builds confidence in drawing and fine motor skills.
It is made for elementary teachers and homeschool parents, including those with no experience teaching art. The unit includes a kid-friendly video introduction to the Elements of Art, 7 step-by-step art lessons (one for each Element) and 7 choice-based art activities that encourage exploration and play.

- Form: apples in soft pastels, creating form with value
- Space: sheep in a field, using size and placement to create depth on a flat surface

- Viewing Art Lesson Activity: students identify the Elements of Art in an artwork from art history and learn about art museums and the roles of curators, visitors and docents

HOW TO USE IT
Review the unit plan for the teaching sequence and start with the introductory lessons and video. Print a master copy and organize it in a binder (the binder cover can be its cover or a section title page), photocopy student pages as needed, then pick a lesson and teach. Each lesson plan tells you how to teach it from the hook to the conclusion.
Use the choice-based lessons before a full tutorial so students can practice and play with an element, or after it to reinforce what they learned. Choice gives students more control over their ideas, room to bring in their own background and imagination, and more than one way to reach a learning objective.
