Questions teachers and parents ask
What should kids learn in 7th grade art?
Most middle school art programs build on the Elements of Art: line, shape, form, color, value, texture and space. In 7th grade, students usually focus on observation drawing, value, design choices and their own artistic voice. Your local curriculum has the final say, so use these lessons to fill in the pieces it asks for.
How do I choose the right lesson for my 7th grade class?
Each lesson card shows the grade range listed for that lesson. Many lessons cover a few grades, so you can pick one at, just below or just above your grade and adjust the steps for your group.
Can I use these lessons at home or in a homeschool?
Yes. The lessons are written for a classroom but the steps work at a kitchen table too. Read each lesson description before you start so you know which supplies to gather.
How often should 7th grade students have art?
It depends on your school or homeschool schedule. A steady routine, even one lesson a week, helps students build skills and confidence over the year.
