This Puppy Love Art Lesson is a Valentine's Day mixed media project that makes a sweet bulletin board display. Students use tempera paint and soft pastels to create a heart-filled puppy artwork while exploring painting techniques, color blending and composition.

It is a low-prep lesson for elementary and middle school students, and it also works for homeschool art, bulletin board displays and substitute teacher plans. Step-by-step visuals, a detailed lesson plan, a grading rubric and a student drawing handout support you through the lesson.
