So helpful for assessing the "whole" student and not just the academics. Thank you.

These Creativity Challenges get ideas flowing as students try to complete as many drawings as they can while being as creative as possible. Each challenge gives students a shape, and they draw as many things as they can that start from or include that shape. They cannot combine them, and every drawing must be unique.

Students in all grades enjoy these artistic brain games, and they tend to get harder the older you are. Use them as an art lesson, a when-you're-done worksheet, a beginning of the semester activity or an introduction to art, or just for fun.

WHAT'S INCLUDED

  • Lesson Plan (2 pages)
  • 4 Creativity Challenges
  • Example of a partly completed challenge to show students as a hook and to set expectations for quality

HOW TO USE IT

Show students the partly completed example first so they see what a strong, creative response looks like. Then hand out a challenge and let them fill it with as many unique drawings as they can.

The challenges work as a full art lesson, a fast finisher or when-you're-done task, a sketchbook activity or a first week of art class activity.
