New Year's Art Projects for Kids

January is a fresh start for everyone, kids included. New Year's art is a lovely way to welcome everyone back, talk about goals and celebrate with fireworks, sparkle and color. Here are my New Year's art lessons, plus free winter ideas from the blog.

Questions teachers and parents ask

When should I teach New Year's art?

The first week back in January is perfect, when kids are settling back in.

Can New Year's art include goal setting?

Yes. Pairing an art project with a simple goal or reflection page makes a great January routine.

Is this the same as Lunar New Year?

No. These lessons are for January 1. For Lunar New Year, see my Lunar New Year art hub.

What supplies do I need?

Most projects use paper, markers or oil pastels and paint, with optional glitter or metallic touches.
