I purchased this when I knew I was going to be absent for an Art class and I wanted a comprehensive lesson for the toc to follow. The finished projects were beautiful and the toc informed me the lesson was easy to follow. Thank-you!

I used these activities as a front load for Benchmark's Unit 3: Observing Nature. Great ideas to implement.

This Winter Chickadee Art Project and Journal Write combines a chickadee mixed media art piece with a winter nature walk and journal writing. Students plan, observe, write and then create their own winter chickadee artwork.

A student workbook guides them through brainstorming, recording their senses on a nature walk, drawing what they see and writing a nature walk journal entry. Step-by-step handouts for the art piece, the branches and the chickadees help every student create a successful piece.

HOW TO USE IT

Print the Winter Inspiration Work Book double-sided and staple it together. Students use it for both the writing and drawing portions, and it also holds their step-by-step drawing handouts. The writing pages come first, so students get inspired by nature before they draw.

Print the step-by-step handouts double-sided so students have the steps for the art piece, the branches and the chickadees beside them while they work. Use the video or PDF tutorial to demonstrate the piece in your classroom.
