I was wanting to print this out to put in my folder and use it for the step by step. Told me that without the proper password that I can't print.

I used this with my 5th graders to decorate our bulletin board. The students enjoyed it and I was impressed with their beautiful birds.

Create a Valentine's Day Bird with Love Letter art project with your class for a fun bulletin board display. Students draw a bird carrying a love letter and finish it with pencil crayon and oil pastel.

The lesson comes with a visual and text step-by-step (each step on its own page with a description), a rubric for marking, a heart tracing sheet and a step-by-step bird drawing so students can create the piece successfully. It works in the classroom or in a homeschool setting.

WHAT'S INCLUDED (NON-EDITABLE)

  • About the Product, an overview of the lesson and how to use it in your classroom
  • Lesson Plan with materials, learning outcomes, goals and "Teacher Does / Student Does" instructions
  • Bird with Love Letter Step-by-Step Draw Worksheet to help students draw with confidence
  • Heart Tracing Sheet for students who need help drawing hearts
  • Art Piece Demonstration Step-by-Step, 24 slides with detailed images and descriptions
  • Example of Art Piece, a finished sample to show students before they begin

HOW TO USE IT

Look over the lesson plan for what to do and which materials you need, and gather them ahead of time. Read through the visual and text step-by-steps, and you may want to make a sample yourself so you can help students later. Photocopy any student handouts you need, such as the step-by-steps or rubric.

Print the sample in color to show students what they are making before the lesson (it is your hook). Then show the PDF on your projector or under a document camera, or use it as your own guide while you demonstrate. Every step has both a visual and a text description, which keeps things clear for students.

This is such a sweet art lesson! We wrote real letters and folded them, then attached them with a small sticker. They became lovely valentine's art cards with special messages.

Assignment was an alternative to using oil pastels and pastel chalk. Used wit my students as a Valentines Day "free day" activity. The sixth graders found it the most engaging.
