This Camera Photographic Memory Art Project is an end of year art lesson where students draw a large camera and illustrate one of their favorite memories from the school year inside the lens. The lens becomes a frame for a personal moment, such as a favorite art project, a field trip, a fun class activity or time with friends.

It combines drawing, oil pastel techniques, watercolor or paint splatter and creative storytelling, and suits elementary and middle school art classes, homeschool art and sub plans in the last weeks of school. Because each student draws their own memory, every finished artwork is unique and makes a keepsake to take home.

WHAT'S INCLUDED (NON-EDITABLE)

  • Detailed Teacher Lesson Plan
  • Step-by-Step Drawing Guides
  • Printable Student Worksheets
  • Student Reflection Page
  • Classroom Art Rubric
  • Example Artwork for teacher reference

HOW TO USE IT

Project the step-by-step visuals or demonstrate the lesson yourself while students follow along. Students draw the camera structure first, then fill the lens with their memory and build the artwork with pencil sketching, oil pastel shading and blending, watercolor or paint splatter effects, pattern and texture, and painted highlights for depth.

It works well for reflection activities during the final weeks of school and creative classroom projects in May or June.
