So looking forward to using this with my class after Christmas. As a multi-grade teacher who has the same students for a number of years I need new lessons to keep things interesting. These lessons are perfect, well planned and creative.

This is a wonderful winter art activity. I like that it's different - not another snowman. I like to pair it up with Barbara Reid's book, Fox Walked Alone. Great resource! Thank you.

Once again, another great product that my students loved. I'm new to art, and I can't explain how wonderful your products are for someone like me. Thanks!

In this Winter Red Fox Art Project, students use oil pastels and paint to create a bright red fox in a snowy landscape. The fox's bold color stands out against the wintery backdrop, and the finished pieces make a striking bulletin board display.

This step-by-step guided art lesson is for elementary and middle school classrooms. Students practice layering color, adding texture with paint and blending oil pastels. It works as a winter or Christmas-themed lesson.

WHAT'S INCLUDED (NON-EDITABLE PDF)

  • 2-page lesson plan with materials, learning outcomes and step-by-step teacher guidance
  • Grading rubric
  • Winter Red Fox in Snow step-by-step drawing handout
  • Art piece demonstration with step-by-step descriptions and images (26 slides)
  • Poster example of the finished artwork for display and inspiration

HOW TO USE IT

Read the lesson plan, gather the materials ahead of time, and photocopy the step-by-step handouts and rubrics. You may want to make a sample yourself first. Every step has both a visual and a text description.

Materials: pencil, eraser, black marker, oil pastels, gray paint (any kind; water down thick paint and mix until consistent), card stock or watercolor paper, plus 30 copies each of the step-by-step drawing handout and the art rubric.
