This is such a great resource for students of all ages! I have been looking for simple and effective worksheets/workbook to help students understand and use shading effectively. I like this packet because it has everything - lesson plan, poster, and worksheet covering so many techniques!!!! This is so helpful and saved me so, so, so much time! Thank you!!

I'm using the handouts in this resource in the art journal/notebook/sketchbook I give to each of the students in my art clubs, as they provide a lot of guidance in shading techniques they use in many projects. Thank you!

Thank you for this. It was easy to teach shading in the art class. It had been years since I learned about shading from my own art class, and this was a good refresher.

This Shading and Value Art Workbook teaches students how to shade with value, use drawing techniques and create the illusion of form through light and shadow. The printable shading unit includes 10 scaffolded art activities that move from foundational to advanced shading methods, including blending, hatching, cross-hatching, stippling and scribbling.

It is designed for upper elementary (Grades 5 to 6) and middle school (Grades 6 to 9) art classes, can be adapted for advanced younger students, and works in homeschool programs too. Students practice value scales, spheres, 3D forms and still life drawings, building drawing confidence as their work gains depth and realism.

I used this resource to start teaching value with my older elementary students, as well as gauge where my middle school students are in terms of understanding value (I am new to the school this year). I am extremely satisfied with this resource. I walked the younger students through step-by-step to create value scales and practice pencil pressure. The older students I allowed to move at their own pace so I could see where they were excelling and where they needed more assistance.
