This Easter Bunny Directed Drawing and Watercolor Art Lesson is a spring art project for elementary students. Students draw a bunny character with expressive features and long floppy ears, add a basket or group of decorated Easter eggs, then paint the scene with watercolor.

The drawing is broken into manageable steps so young artists feel successful, and the watercolor stage gives them room to experiment with color. Because students choose their own colors and patterns for the eggs, every bunny turns out different. The finished pieces work well for spring bulletin boards, Easter displays or sending home to families.

HOW IT WORKS

Students follow the step-by-step guide to build the bunny from simple shapes, adding ears, facial features and body details. Next they draw a basket or grouping of Easter eggs around the bunny, then trace the drawing with black marker. They paint soft spring colors across the background and brighter colors on the bunny and eggs. Once the paint is dry, they can add patterns and details to the eggs or background.

Along the way students practice guided drawing, explore line, shape and character design, experiment with watercolor and build confidence drawing animals. It fits Easter and spring art lessons, elementary art classes, homeschool art, sub plans and seasonal March or April displays.
