Autumn Art Lesson for Kids, Fall Pumpkin Art Project Tutorial

This autumn pumpkin art project is a perfect project to teach your students to blend oil pastel and how to layer mediums. This art project uses both oil pastels and watercolor paints. Perfect to teach to your students or print this page and leave it for a sub.
First use a red oil pastel to draw the curves of your pumpkin, as seen below.

Next, add highlights with yellow oil pastel in the curved sections of your pumpkin.

Color over your entire pumpkin, both over the yellow and red pastel as well, with an orange oil pastel.

Draw a brown stem with brown oil pastel.

Draw a thick black outline around your pumpkin’s contour with a black oil pastel. Draw in the curves on the pumpkin (over the red) with your black as well.

In the background, draw swirling lines breaking off the stem. Draw dashed lines around the background to add texture to the white space.

Paint over your background with blue watercolor paint or paint cakes. Let your art piece dry and it is done!
