SPOOKY SCARY SKELETONS ART PROJECT

You better capitalize on this one my friend because this Tiktok challenge is back for another year and so your students will be all over this one. So you should be too. This is something easy for me because I LOVE HALLOWEEN and this song is all kinds of epic, but even if YOU don’t like Halloween but your students do… means you need to get on board and make some Spooky Scary Skeleton art. Set the stage as they enter and play the song. Let them get a lil crazy then prompt them to make a guess about what you are creating… Skeletons they say? YUP. And also the Principle of Design: Contrast of Course! Bring down their energy by teaching about Contrast in your soft voice, maybe find a YouTube on it as well, then create some black and white skeleton art with them with either paper, newsprint and construction paper, charcoal on white paper, india ink on white, white soft pastel on black paper, you get the point.

JACK-O-LANTERN STILL LIFE ART PROJECT:

Want to increase engagement and have your students focused while Halloween nears? No problem. Combat those sugar rushes by bringing in a carved pumpkin or Jack-O-Lantern and turn off the lights and light it up with a candle. You might want to put a couple battery powered candles around it to create light on the outside of the pumpkin as well. Let students explore soft pastels or charcoal as they sketch some spooky still life artworks.

CAT-O-LANTERN Art Project:

With your primaries, definitely have them create some cute jack-o-lantern art and make it friendly by adding cute cats sitting in them to create lovely Cat-O-Lanterns! I love this idea, it is just sooo cute.

FRANKENSTEIN CHALLENGE ART PROJECT:

Challenge your students to create a Frankenstein monster using at least 5 mediums to encourage them to experiment and be creative. Direct 1 of the mediums to be magazine clippings OR scrap paper pieces. Put up a picture of Frankenstein and let them create choice-based art by creating their own Frankenstein, inspired by the picture, but using a variety of art making mediums and materials. They MUST include 5 art mediums so we can ask the students to really think outside the box and move outside their comfort zone. This can be done with most ages, from Elementary all the way up to High School. All about expanding Creative Thinking Skills.

GHOST SCULPTURES:

Challenge students to make miniature ghost sculptures using wire and wax paper or parchment paper and any other choice art mediums. Challenge them to explore beyond the classic bed sheet style ghost and go deeper into the project to create a spooky character.
