12 Days of Christmas: A December Art Inspiration Guide for Teachers

12 Days of Christmas: A December Art Inspiration Guide for Teachers

It’s time for a FREE 12 Days of Christmas Art Activity Guide is full of festive ideas, printable activities, and linked tutorials that help you create a full month of joyful art-making with your students — without spending hours planning it yourself.

December can be one of the most magical — and most chaotic — months in the classroom. Between concerts, crafts, report cards, and holiday energy, it often feels like every minute is spoken for. Teachers everywhere are balancing joy with exhaustion, creativity with chaos.

And as art teachers and creative educators, we feel that deeply.
We want to give our students beautiful, meaningful art experiences that celebrate the season — but we’re also trying to keep our classrooms running smoothly and our sanity intact.

That’s why I created something special this year: my December Art Inspiration Guide: 12 Days of Christmas Edition.

It’s a printable guide designed to help you plan, teach, and celebrate creativity all December long — without the stress.

✨ Why I Created the 12 Days of Christmas Guide

Every December, I found myself flipping through ideas, sketching last-minute projects, and trying to juggle too much all at once. I’d have paint palettes drying while students were rehearsing for performances, glitter in places I didn’t know glitter could go, and a never-ending to-do list whispering “You forgot the display board again.”

I wanted to change that — not just for myself, but for every art teacher and homeschooling parent who’s ever felt overwhelmed by the month of December.

So, I designed a guide that would take the pressure off and bring the fun back into art planning.
The 12 Days of Christmas Guide is full of festive ideas, printable activities, and linked tutorials that help you create a full month of joyful art-making with your students — without spending hours planning it yourself.

It’s meant to feel like a creative safety net — something that helps you fall in love with teaching art again, right when you need that extra spark.

🎁 What’s Inside the December Art Inspiration Guide

Inside your 12 Days of Christmas Art Inspiration Guide, you’ll find a treasure trove of ready-to-use ideas, printables, and art prompts designed specifically for the holiday season.

🎨 How to Use It in Your Classroom or Homeschool

One of the best parts of this guide is its flexibility. You can use it however it best fits your classroom rhythm:

💡 Morning Creativity Warm-Ups: Start your day with a quick art prompt or sketchbook idea to help students settle into the creative mindset.

🖌️ Printable Art Activities: Keep them ready for sub days, early finishers, or calm-down moments during the busy season.

🌟 Themed Art Days: Choose one “Day of Christmas” idea per class or week — a reindeer, snowflake, elf, or winter tree — and build excitement with a countdown display in your classroom.

🎁 Kindness or Gratitude Projects: Use the printable prompts to connect art to SEL and seasonal reflection.

The goal isn’t perfection — it’s peaceful creativity. This guide was designed to give teachers back their time while still creating space for wonder, imagination, and joy in December.

💖 A Message from My Studio

When I was creating this guide, I imagined teachers opening it after a long day — coffee in hand, snow (or rain!) outside the window, and that little spark of excitement returning as they flipped through the pages.

Because that’s what I want this to be for you — a spark.
A reminder that art doesn’t have to be perfect or complicated to be magical.

Sometimes, the best thing we can give our students — and ourselves — is permission to slow down, to create with joy, and to celebrate the little moments that make the holidays special.

So as you move into the final stretch of the year, I hope this guide gives you both inspiration and ease. You deserve a December that’s peaceful, purposeful, and filled with creativity.
