Halloween Art Lesson Idea for Kids, Vampire Art Project Tutorial

Create a Vampire art piece with your students this Halloween! Explore oil resist painting and create a fun design when things get spooky! Perfect activity to do in the days leading up to Halloween or to leave with a sub.

Begin your art piece by drawing, with a black oil pastel, an oval for the vampire’s head on card stock paper or in your sketchbook. Beneath, draw two triangle’s for his shirt collar.

Draw your vampire’s face details and hair. Don’t forget to add a widow’s peak.

Draw your vampire’s body and legs.

Draw the cape and arms.

Draw swirling black lines around your vampire.

Draw little bats around the swirls.

In the remaining space and around the swirls and dots, draw dots or circles with a white oil pastel.

Use paint cakes or watercolor paints and paint the vampire’s body (not the head or skin areas. We will keep this white).

Paint the background red to complete your image, being careful to not paint over your vampire. As you paint, the white dots will appear.

Your art piece is now done!
