I’d like to tell you a story. It’s about WHY I do what I do, and why I’d like to help YOU achieve. I know that you are finding that lesson planning and creating your examples and art lessons is taking up a lot of your free time. I know that it can be hard to constantly come up with ideas for art projects for a variety of grade levels. As well, I know that buying art resources is EXPENSIVE. I don’t want you to feel the financial burden of buying tons of individual art lessons. I want you to have the resources that you need to help you be successful at an affordable price!

I decided to create the Artastic Collective Membership because it is a better option for art teachers to get the resources they need, RIGHT NOW, into their hands. I know that this is the most affordable option I can provide you. Instead of having to pay for each individual resource, with a membership, you will have access to a plethora of art lessons for your students; lessons that you can use INSTANTLY, with one, simple, monthly payment.

The Artastic Collective Membership offers Art Teachers a community, virtual Q+A’s and meet-ups, and art lessons that I’ve created. Get my fully planned art lessons (rubrics! assessment! lesson plans! tutorials!) to save you time and give you freedom, and to have fun, creative art projects to make with your students in your art classroom. The AC Membership is a monthly, affordable, pay-as-you go membership that is convenient for you with new art lessons each month! You got this art teacher!

And because I know you want to be ever evolving, I will be ever evolving in the resources I create for you to use.

I am Kathleen McGiveron, also known as Ms Artastic, and my mission is to provide you with prepared art lessons, resources, and activities that will allow you to free up your time and live your life, whether that means traveling, pursuing your hobbies, or spending time with your family. You should be able to be an instructor or teacher and be able to have the time to LIVE life. With this membership, you will receive teaching ideas, inspiration, and guidance to help you navigate and problem-solve in your classroom or studio. This membership will give you the freedom to create art with kids, live your life, and will help you engage your students with art lessons.

The reason I wanted to share my story with you is because I want you to know me. And I want you to know that I can help you, too. At the bottom of this blog post are some FAQs to give you guidance!

So do me a favor?

Go watch this video.

As you’ll see, I’m ready to help art teachers, educators, and studio instructors get the resources they need into their classroom.

I’ll Never forget the Stress

As you know, registration for the Artastic Collective closes August 31st, which is in a couple days. So I just thought I’d get personal with you and tell you something that most people DON’T know about me.

As you know, registration for the Artastic Collective closes in 2 days (August 31st is the LAST day to join). So I just thought I’d get personal with you and tell you something that most people DON’T know about me.

The truth is… I had NO IDEA what to teach kids when I first was an art teacher, even after getting my Bachelor of Visual Arts at Emily Carr University and my Bachelor of Education at Simon Fraser University (Secondary Teaching Minor).

I’ll explain!

Originally, I started off in secondary art, but because I play the seniority game here in British Columbia, I was put into the elementary world (because back then, there were no jobs, and were all in a union so… seniority wins. And I had NONE!). I had little experience with Kindergarten to 7. I thought…. WHAT AM I GOING TO TEACH THESE KIDS, THEY ARE SWARMING ME. ALL NEEDING TO GO TO THE BATHROOM AT THE SAME TIME, CRYING WHEN THEIR HANDS ARE DIRTY, and CAN’T HOLD PENCILS?!  Well, almost 10 years later, I never left the elementary teaching world. As an elementary teacher and someone who has taught art from K-12 now, I have learned so much and I really GET the kids.

What was a serious shock for me at the start of my career, is now my joy. I love the excitement of seeing kids faces when they see paint repel off oil pastel like magic! I love watching them explore color mixing! I love seeing how PROUD they are when they create an artwork they didn’t expect to be able to create! I love building their confidence in creating ART!

But I’ll never forget the feeling of having a lack of art resources for the age group and only finding the SAME ART LESSONS all over Pinterest (which, back then, was just a baby).

So what changed? HOW did I overcome my greatest difficulties?

Honestly, it’s the same way you might, or ANYONE would.

I had to DIG DEEP. I had to open myself to LEARNING again. I had to seek NEW MENTORS. I learned from other Elementary teachers how to engage kids, I read books, and I EXPERIENCED it. A decade later, I am a very different teacher.

Most of all, I began creating the art resources and lessons that WEREN’T OUT THERE. I began creating images from my own imagination that I thought THE KIDS would like (not me!). I created art lessons that explored THEIR INTERESTS. All the while, I’ve still created my own art professionally and have been showing it in art galleries (both commercial & public). This is how Ms Artastic was born and why it is still growing. Kids change, and so do I. I keep creating FOR YOU.

Maybe you can relate. Maybe it really is your time to get the lessons that you need to engage your students and earn your free time back? Then, please, go get yourself registered for the Artastic Collective.

But listen… sometimes, SOMETHING has to change. Maybe this is that moment for you. Maybe it’s not. But I want you to know I’m here, and I’ve opened my membership for you… it’s just that I have to close this offer in 2 days and get to work serving my new students. Because my job as Ms Artastic is to do the planning and art tutorial creating for you. I hope you choose to become one of them, one of us.

Transformation is possible. Progress is possible. I’m proof, and so are my students. So just click here and join today. It’s your time,
